Many people throw away their used running shoes every 125-200 days without thinking about recycling. Since running shoes are manufactured with materials that are not biodegradable, they remain in landfills or are incinerated, which leads to toxic chemicals in our air and soil.
Recycling running shoes also reduces the need to manufacture new shoes and sneakers.
So, donate running shoes that have hit the 300-mile mark at any New Basin Blues running event. You’ll help reduce environmental pollution and lessen climate change from the manufacturing process.
You’ll help our dedicated Administrator of Shoe Processing move on to other things. (Twenty-six bags shipped, four more to go.)
Better yet, the compensation received for the running shoes you donate goes directly to NBB’s XC Shoe Fund.
Bottom line: your discards help us provide new running shoes and gear to deserving high school cross-country runners from local teams.
